Curriculum Overview

  • The Knox County Schools Mathematics program implements a comprehensive, research-based approach to learning mathematics.  Our curriculum is carefully aligned with the Tennesee State Standards for Mathematics.
     
    Advanced Placement Statistics 
     
    This course is non-calculus in its orientation with a major focus on data analysis.  Students who study this course will be prepared to take the AP Statistics Exam and seek college credit.  This course follows the topics listed in the College Board Advanced Placement course description.
     
    Topics Covered In This Course: 
     
    Data Analysis:  methods and strategies for exploring, organizing, and describing data using graphs and numerical summaries
    Data Production:  methods for producing data, sampling and experimental design 
    Probability:  the language we use to describe chance, variation and risk
    Statistical Inference:  moves beyond the data in hand to draw conclusions
