The Child Find Staff at Fort Sanders Educational Development Center evaluate children between the ages of 3 and 5 to determine eligibility and the need for special educational services. Educational needs are determined through parent interview and child evaluation. Areas evaluated may include, but are not limited to: vision, hearing, speech and language, fine and gross motor, cognitive/pre-academic, social/emotional and adaptive development.
Following evaluation, if a preschool child is determined to be eligible for special educational services, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be developed.
Parents who have educational concerns about school age children who do not attend public school can access special education services by contacting their zoned school. Child referral will be made to the Support Team to review education concerns.
