What is Aspen Family Portal?

Aspen Family Portal is your online access point for important student information and teacher communication.
This secure site provides an easy way to view student academic information including:
- Grades
- Upcoming assignments
- Attendance
- Progress reports/report cards
- State testing scores
Family Portal also allows you to email teachers and set automatic email notifications if a grade falls below a specific threshold.
Additionally, some teachers use the site to build classroom pages and to manage parent communication. These pages are accessed only by logging in and may include announcements, a course syllabus, dates for important assignments and links to classroom information.

If my child is new to Knox County Schools, how do I get my Aspen Family Portal login?
Every Tuesday the KCS IT Helpdesk sends an email to ALL parents who have a valid email listed at their child's school and who do not already have a Aspen Family Portal login. That email contains a link to register for Aspen Family Portal and directions for creating your own login. If your child has been pre-registered, you should start receiving emails in early July when the system is rolled over to the upcoming school year.

I know I have an Aspen Family Portal account, but I have lost my login information. What should I do?
Your first call should be to your child's school. Each school has a staff member, or two, that have access to all of their students' Aspen Family Portal logins. If the school doesn't have a login for you, you may request your login by contacting the KCS IT Helpdesk by completing this form. An email will be sent to you from the KCS IT Helpdesk with your login information.

What should I do if I forget my password?
Aspen Family Portal has a password recovery function. Click "I forgot my password" from the Aspen Family Portal login page. You will be required to enter your Login ID and your email address. You will receive an email with a temporary password that will allow you to log back in, then you'll be prompted to reset your password.

What if the system doesn't recognize my email address, but I know it is correct?
Some emails were entered into the Aspen Family Portal system in UPPERCASE. If the system doesn't recognize your email address in lowercase, try typing it using uppercase letters.

Where will I find my child's schedule for the new school year when they are released on Aspen Family Portal?
Once you have logged in successfully, click on the FAMILY top tab and then the SCHEDULE side tab to view your student’s schedule. During the summer months, the student schedule side tab will not be available while the SIS Team transitions Aspen into the upcoming school year. Schedules normally become available in late July.

How long will it take to get an answer to the support ticket I sent to the KCS IT Helpdesk?
Tickets are responded to in the order in which they are received and we try to answer them all as quickly as possible. At the beginning of the school year, several thousand tickets and phone calls are delivered to the helpdesk, so response times can vary.
