• FY23 Budget Overview

    The proposed FY 2023 budget of $591,500,000 reflects an increase of $49,500,000 from last year's adopted budget. The proposed budget invests in staffing initiatives and projects as KCS moves out of the COVID-19 pandemic . Additional funding through the CARES and ESSER Acts will allow us to continue an online option for our students as well as significant investments in devices and textbook materials to mitigate learning loss across the district.

    The budget must be approved by Knox County Commission.

    Knox County Commission determines the final funding amount for the Knox County Board of Education as part of the overall Knox County budget but does not determine how the funds will be utilized. Knox County Commission has the power to change funding sources or amounts.
