FALL TRANSITION TUESDAYS
The Knox County Schools Transition School to Work Grant (TSW) Team is hosting Fall Transition Tuesdays- information sessions for students with disabilities and their families. The sessions are on the 3rd Tuesday in September, October, and November from 6pm-7pm. Each session will feature a different topic and guest speaker(s). These sessions are geared toward students and parents/guardians. You must register for each session. Please click the link below the session to register or call TSW at 865-594-1490. Benefits to Work and Financial Planning
Presenters: Travis Cullum, Senior Vice President with Southwestern Investment Group;
Kay Watson, Benefits Analyst with Benefits to Work
The KCS Transition School to Work Grant will host a virtual event discussing financial planning for adults with disabilities. Travis Cullum, Senior Vice President with Southwestern Investment Group, will explore the aspects of the 529 ABLE Savings plan--an exciting opportunity to help individuals with disabilities put aside money for qualified expenses. He will also briefly look into how this complements a Special Needs Trust and specific provisions that should be followed. Kay Watson , Benefits Analyst, Benefits to Work, will discuss the benefits to work sharing how work impacts benefits like Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), TennCare and Medicare.
