Connect Canvas to Aspen for Grade Passback and Add Mastery Trackers
This year, teachers can send grades from Canvas directly to Aspen using Grade Passback. Please read the directions below to correctly sync your Aspen categories to Canvas assignment groups, crosslist courses, and add Trackers for Mastery Connect.
You can also bookmark this webpage for reference.
1. Set up categories in Aspen and corresponding Canvas Assignment Groups
Note - Aspen categories must match Canvas assignment groups.
***If you are using Mastery Trackers with your courses, please read the Mastery Tracker information to gather the SIS ID and Identifier for each section PRIOR to crosslisting.***
2. Crosslist courses (optional)
Same kids, different subject- DO NOT CROSSLIST
Different kids, same subject- CROSSLIST AVAILABLE
If you teach more than one section of the same course (i.e. I teach 1st, 4th, and 6th-period Algebra 1), you may want to crosslist your courses. This means that you will only need to upload files and assignments into one course, and the information will populate across all crosslisted students. ONLY crosslist courses of the same subject.
○ You will need this information if adding Mastery Trackers in a later step.
3. Import content
The course is ready for content. Teachers can import existing content and/or create new content. *If imported, assignments will have to be moved to the appropriate assignment group.
