My favorite high school memory is from my sophomore year when our tennis team was playing for the state championship. We needed to win the final two matches to earn a spot in the finals, but we were down on both courts. Then the Bearden boys soccer team walked in. They had just won their game and drove over, still in uniform, to cheer us on. The energy they brought helped us push through; we won both courts and a spot in the championship match.

My favorite memory from high school doesn’t stem from one event, but rather from the experience as a whole. Because CMA is such a small school, it was very easy to connect with the teachers and staff. Without their constant support, their kindness, and their love for teaching, I would not have been able to grow my passion for learning. The teachers and staff treated all of the students as young adults and gave them a place for their voices to be heard.

One of my favorite memories is the school kickball tournament. I remember playing as a freshman, and losing; playing as a sophomore with renewed hopefulness, and losing; playing as a junior with the full determination to beat everyone else, and losing; and then finally senior year came and, surprisingly, we pulled through. The seniors have definitely lost a few things this year. But just like that kickball tournament, losing streaks aren’t predictions for the future.

There are way too many people I've known and things I’ve done in high school to just pick one memory. All the memories, good and bad, have been those I want to remember forever. During hard practices and homework, those moments have shaped me into who I have become. My teams and classmates are unforgettable and I cherish every moment we have gotten together. As always, Go Hornets!

My favorite high school memory took place in my sophomore English class. Over the semester we became pretty close and eventually banded together to distract ourselves from "Lord of the Flies." We would toss dressing packets from the cafeteria across the room while the teacher wasn’t looking. It was like our little secret. One person would distract while another quickly threw the packet far and high to someone across the room. The best part is that to this day our teacher has no clue.

My favorite memory of high school was working with my sister and my best friend to plan a surprise Day of the Dead party for a pre-school class at West View Elementary. We got all the decorations, baking supplies, and candy for the pinata; baked churro muffins; borrowed some of Ms. Holbrook's paper flower decorations; and filled the pinata. I was overwhelmed by the smiling faces of the children, and I loved getting to spend the morning with all of these wonderful kids and my best friends, too.

My favorite high school memory is more of a feeling than one single event. It is the excitement I felt as I cheered on the sidelines on any given Friday night; the sense of pride and accomplishment when I aced a test I thought I did not perform well on; the heartwarming glow that I experienced during Tuesday Night Lights; and the bond and the connection I have with my friends, who have been beside me since elementary school. I will carry the memory of these feelings in my heart forever.

My favorite memory was during junior year, when my advisory was put in a room without any chairs so we sat on exercise balls. One day we all ended up hitting and bouncing them to a make a beat and formed a sort of drum circle out of it, which was quite fun for us, but probably not for all the other advisories nearby trying to do things.

I have lots of happy memories from soccer practice and tournaments with my friends outside of STEM, as well as fond memories from chalk walks with NAHS, Open Mic Night, and Science Olympiad weekends. Even small moments like eating lunch with my friends, teasing Mr. Arnold, talking with Mr. Hawkins, or watching Ms. Brown get annoyed at me and my sister's teasing. It's a lot of small moments that make up four years of happiness and growth.

One of my favorite memories was representing my class as the student body President; I had so much support and love from my teachers and peers. For spirit week, Powell had different activities for each grade to "win" and the hallway decorating contest was my favorite. So many teachers and students all helped me with buying the decorations and setting everything up, painting, taping and more. We stayed until around 10 pm decorating, making it the coolest Halloween themed hallway ever.

March 12, 2020, will always be the first thing to come to mind when someone asks me my favorite high school memory. Even though my last day happened differently than expected, I am thankful I shared it with people who have made these last four years the best yet. I was able to learn alongside all of my friends for the last time, say “Good morning!” and “Have a great day!” to the teachers who have taught me so much, and spend one final tennis practice with the team. Looking back to March 12, 2020, I realized to never take things for granted, because you never know when a moment or memory could be your last.

One of my favorite parts of high school was participating in our school's academic team and competing in the Scholars' Bowl.
