Knox County Schools Celebrate Newly Tenured Employees

The Knox County Schools will celebrate 100 newly-tenured employees on Tuesday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sarah Simpson Professional Development Center (801 Tipton Avenue).

The event will include dinner and feature educator, author, and motivational speaker Dr. Dale Henry. Formerly the Associate Dean of Professional and Graduate Studies for Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee, and a native of East Tennessee and the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Henry draws heavily on his storytelling background during his presentations while promoting higher levels of individual and team excellence.

Academic tenure is a professional status granted to employees after serving five school years and receiving performance evaluations “above expectations” or “significantly above expectations” with regard to effectiveness of teaching based on the evaluation guidelines set forth by the Tennessee Board of Education.
