Please join Sequoyah Elementary School for the 3rd Annual Family Engineering Night on Thursday, December 4 from 5-7 p.m. This event includes engineering design challenges, several new stations and popular stations from last year. Students and their families will use the design process to plan, create, and improve specific design challenges such as paper helicopters, bridge engineering, and newspaper towers. We will also have a mural creation station where our students will follow a blueprint and collaborate to produce a work of art that we can display at school. Students from L&N STEM Academy will bring their riding robot to showcase on this evening, and Bearden High School Orchestra will provide our families with classical and holiday tunes. Our school has partnered once again with the University of Tennessee CURENT (Center for Ultra-wide area Resilient Electrical Energy Transmission Networks). Their contributions include solar cars, circuit boards, and all materials for our stations. CURENT and Sequoyah Elementary School’s Science Lab have collaborated significantly over the past four years to bring Sequoyah students the best in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) activities and instruction. In addition, all of our stations align with state standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.
