L&N Student Honored As Presidential Scholar

A student from L&N STEM Academy was one of 161 high school seniors across the country recognized on May 12 as a U.S. Presidential Scholar.

Cristine Chen was one of only three students from Tennessee to receive the award, which is based on academic success, artistic and technical excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership.

"Our 2022 Presidential Scholars represent the best of America, and remind us that when empowered by education, there are no limits to what our young people can achieve," U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in a news release.

Chen, who is planning to attend MIT, is also the valedictorian for L&N's Class of 2022.
