Ashley Ketner Appointed Principal of K.A.E.C.
Ashley Ketner has been appointed principal of Knoxville Adapter Education Center. (K.A.E.C.) effective July 2020. Ms. Ketner joined Knox County Schools in 2004 as a program facilitator at K.A.E.C., where she has continued to work for the last 16 years.
Ms. Ketner previously worked as a team leader in the Helen Ross McNabb Center's Bridges program. At K.A.E.C., she has supervised the K-8 program, and she currently supervises the high school intervention program. In 2016, Ms. Ketner also became principal of the Night Alternative Program at K.A.E.C., which is now located at Byington Solway.
Ms. Ketner holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Centre College in Kentucky, a Special Education teaching license from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Carson Newman University.
Daniel Champion Appointed Principal of Whittle Springs Middle School
Daniel Champion has been appointed principal of Whittle Springs Middle School effective July 2020. Mr. Champion joined Knox County Schools in 2003 as a teacher at Knoxville Adaptive Education Center (K.A.E.C.).
Mr. Champion has worked as a teacher in Loudon County as well as at Karns Middle School and Vine Middle Magnet, where he was also a TAP master teacher. He began his career in administration in 20 I 5 as an assistant principal at Vine Middle Magnet and later assistant principal at Gresham Middle School and Ridgedale Alternative. He is currently principal of K.A.E.C.
Mr. Champion holds a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee, Martin.
Michelle Harper Appointed Principal of Mount Olive Elementary School
Michelle Harper has been appointed principal of Mount Olive Elementary School effective July 2020. Ms. Harper joined Knox County Schools in 2004 after working 14 years as a teacher in Kentucky.
Ms. Harper taught at Blue Grass Elementary for eight years before serving as an instructional coach at the school. She began her career in administration when she was named in 2016 assistant principal at Blue Grass, where she currently serves.
Ms. Harper holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, a master's degree in Elementary Education from Georgetown College, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
Joann Bost Appointed Principal of Northwest Middle School
Joann Bost has been appointed principal of Northwest Middle School effective July 2020. Ms. Bost joined Knox County Schools in 2000 upon graduating from Carson-Newman University.
Ms. Bost taught at Whittle Springs Middle School for eight years before joining Project GRAD Knoxville. She worked as a math coach at Carter Middle School and a master teacher at South-Doyle Middle School prior to being appointed assistant principal at Carter Middle School. In 2017, she was named principal of Whittle Springs Middle School, where she currently serves.
Ms. Bost holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Carson-Newman University and a master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
