Excellence for Every Child

Parents As Teachers Program

Parents As Teachers Our Mission
Our mission is to empower, support, and encourage parents as their child's first and most influential teacher, in order that their children may have the optimal opportunity to succeed in school and in life.

Our Vision
Our Vision is that all children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.

Our Goals

We are proud to be a Parents As Teachers Affiliate. The Parents As Teachers model is an evidence-based home visiting model designed to ensure young children are healthy, safe and ready to learn. The Parents As Teachers model has four dynamic components, each closely interrelated and integrated personal visits, group meetings, child screenings and a resource network. Together, these four components create a cohesive package of services with four primary goals:

  1. Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices.
  2. Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues.
  3. Prevent child abuse and neglect.
  4. Increase children's school readiness and school success.

What can I expect?
As a parent, you will partner with a certified parent educator focused on your child's healthy growth and development. Your educator will use and personalize the Parents As Teachers curriculum to fit your family's goals, concerns and needs. Together you will discuss goals for your family and for your child. During your home visit, you will focus on parent-child activities, developmental topics, family well-being, reading and Kindergarten readiness skills.
We will also provide regular screenings to assess your child's health and development as well as assist you in locating appropriate community agencies and enrichment activities. You will also have the opportunity to attend regular group meetings which will provide additional information on child development, discipline, language, literacy and more.
