The Knox County Schools Computer Science Department (KCS CompSci) was developed to encourage students to become producers of technology, responsible digital citizens, and to prepare students for the demanding technology initiatives awaiting them after high school. The department provides vertical alignment of curriculum, opportunities to engage in extracurricular clubs, and other initiatives that will encourage students in the area of computer science. The work in this department supports all curricular departments.

The KCS Computer Science framework and curriculum are aligned with the Computer Science Teacher Association standards and modified to meet the needs of Knox County students. Additionally, they have been aligned to the Tennessee Department of Education Digital Readiness Standards.
