• Homebound

The homebound program is a short-term placement for students expected to miss 11 or more school days due to medical issues.  Referrals are processed through the homebound office where a release packet will be provided the parent/guardian to complete and return to the Homebound Office.  Once we have received a completed medical release, our office will generate a medical statement and we will send it directly to the student's physician to complete and return to our office.

Once the completed medical statement and information have been received,  the school's Support Team / IEP Team / 504 Team will meet to determine homebound placement.  The homebound medical case manager will assist the teams in following Knox County Schools' protocol in determining if a homebound placement is appropriate.  Students placed on homebound are assigned a licensed teacher for assistance in completing work given by the classroom teacher.   This work should compensate for the time missed in the classroom and facilitate the transition back into his/her regular classroom schedule.

If you believe your child may require homebound services, please contact the homebound office to begin the paperwork.
