Do you want to be a hero? Join BMS as we create a Hero Squad for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise funds for the Pennies for Patients program. Students are collecting change and paper money to turn into homeroom teachers each day. You and your child can make a larger impact through online donations following this WEBSITE. Once you access this link you can search for your child's homeroom teacher (Lower LEFT side of page) and then make a donation to that homeroom's goal. If your child wants to be eligible for prizes they will need to create their own account under their teacher's homeroom name. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Ankrom at amber.ankrom@knoxschools.org. The fundraiser will last until Friday, March 1.

The Bearden Middle School Foundation announces the 'Shop With Scrip' fundraiser. The purpose of the Foundation is to help sustain Bearden Middle School's 1-1 technology initiative. The Foundation presented the school with a $25,500 check in the Fall which went to purchase iPads, chargers and cases to supplement the school's supply. The iPads purchased with these funds went into immediate circulation in the school giving students and teachers access to several programs that provide immediate academic feedback for students and teachers as well as 21st century opportunities to learn, grow and prepare students for the future. Shop With Scrip is a way to put the money you spend every day to use earning money for the school. You purchase gift cards at no additional cost from over 750 organizations which give anywhere from 2% - 16% back to the Foundation to continue helping the school. Check out the website at beardenmiddleschoolfoundation.org or contact virginia.fletcher@knoxschools.org to learn more about this great opportunity!

The Knoxville Police Department has asked that we remind everyone that hand held cell phone use is strictly prohibited in a moving vehicle in a school zone when the school zone lights are flashing. Adults over the age of 18 are allowed to use a 'hands-free option' when in a marked school zone. Please remember this to help keep you and our students safe.
