    2018 Season Meet Schedule:
    March 8 at Farragut High 
    March 20 at Bearden  High (hosting)
    March 29 at Bearden High
    April 10 at Karns High
    April 19 at Webb
    May 3 and 4 finals at HVA 
     
    We will need parent volunteers to help with the March 20 Meet because we will be hosting. This includes measuring distances and timing events. If you would be able to help, please email me at christen.marcus@knoxschools.org. Thanks!

    Hello!

    I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and is excited for track season! This year, as mentioned in the meeting, every student will be responsible for buying the TOP PORTION OF THEIR UNIFORM. In order to do this, I have met with a rep to set up an online store. The tops should be around $22. There are many other items available for purchase from the online store, such as hoodies, warm ups, shorts, pullovers, etc., but they are not required to be on the team. The online store will open up on January 17 and will close on January 24. So, it is very important that you order your uniform (top portion only required) by January 26 so that we will have them by our first meet in March. As soon as I get the link for the online store, I will send it out and post it to the Faceboook page as well. If you would like to purchase extra uniforms for students who cannot afford uniforms, you may do that also. Just purchase as many as you would like or are able to, preferably in different sizes. Our team would greatly appreciate it.

     

    Also, I have only received forms and fees from about 10 students so far. Remember, these are due by January 26 to Coach Marcus in the auditorium. There are two forms, a physical and a $30 fee that are all due. If your child had a physical after April 30, 2017, then it is on file and they do not need another one. 

     

    The Track and Field season will begin in early-February. Track Meets will begin in March.  There will be a parent informational meeting on November 27 at 6:00 pm.  Details will be distributed as they become available.  All dates, times, and locations will be announced during the morning announcements and published on this website along with our team Facebook page.

    As I am sure you have heard by now, Coach Sands will not be coaching track this year and I will be taking over the program. I am a 6th grade teacher at BMS and look forward to a great track season! As per usual, we will have a track parent/student interest meeting before the season starts. It will be on Monday, November 27 at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. If your student is interested in joining track or has been on the track team in the past and would like to be on the team this year, please attend this meeting. I will be passing out important forms and going over a few important details. I will also open up the floor if any parents have fundraising ideas for this year. I look forward to meeting all of you!

    Pre-Season CONDITIONIONING:  Here's a workout to help build strengty and endurance leading up to the season.  Try to perform this workout 3 times per week with one day of rest between workouts.  WORKOUT PLAN
     
    REQUIRED FORMS:  In order to participate, students must submit a current KCS sports physical with consent form included (dated after April 15th, 2017), concussion form, and sudden cardiac arrest form.  These forms can be found in the "IMPORTANT FILES" section of this website and MUST BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO TRYOUTS IN FEBRUARY
     
    REQUIRED FEE:  There is a mandatory fee of $30.00 per student to cover the required athletic insurance through Knox County Schools. This can be paid in the form of cash or check made payable to Bearden Middle School.   
     
    PRACTICE:  When the seaon starts, we will practice Monday through Thursday immediately after school until 5:15 p.m.  We will not hold practice on days that we do not have school.
