What is IB?
-
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (DP) and IB Career-Related (CP) Programs offer advanced studies that demand the best from motivated students. IB students study a broad range of subjects and engage in research and experiential learning through school, community, and international activities. Since its founding over fifty years ago, IB has become a symbol of academic integrity and intellectual promise, recognized by leading universities in the United States and throughout the world.

West High School's IB Diploma Programme, authorized in 2011, aims to provide a balanced education, facilitate geographic mobility, and promote international understanding through shared academic experiences. Our IB exam results compare favorably to other IB World Schools, and our students are widely accepted at competitive universities across the United States.
West High School's IB Career-Related Certificate Programme, authorized in 2020, offers students the option of four unique career pathways through which they gain both profession-specific content knowledge and training and advanced course content through the selection of intentionally paired IB courses. IB CP students may currently pursue pathways in Coding, Engineering, Nursing, and Nutrition & Dietetics. Upon completion of the IB CP, graduates are well-positioned to seek industry certification, continue their studies at institutions of higher education, or enter the workforce.
