DUE TO COVID-19, THE DMV IS CLOSED UNTIL MAY 18TH. WE ARE WAITING TO RECEIVE INFORMATION FROM THE STATE REGARDING REQUIREMENTS OF THE SF-1010. As soon as we know what the state regulations will be (they may waive the requirement of the form for the summer of 2020), we will post on this page. THANK YOU.
In order to obtain a Learner's Permit or Driver's License in the state of Tennessee you must be in compliance with the Compulsory Attendance law. When you go to the Dept. of Transportation you will need to submit the SF1010 form which verifies you are in compliance with state law.
If you have a valid TN Learner's Permit, you do not need the SF1010 form to obtain a Driver's License.
The requirements are as follows:
- You must be at least 15 years of age.
- You must pass more than half of your courses during the previous semester.
- You must have fewer than 15 non-consecutive unexcused absences and/or days of suspension during the previous semester OR fewer than 10 consecutive unexcused absences and/or days of suspension during the previous semester.
If you meet the above requirements you should complete an application to obtain the SF1010 form.
Applications are available from in the Main Office.
The application is also available online through this link SF1010 (will open in a new window).
Completed applications should be turned in to the main office.
All outstanding text books and library books must be turned in before your application will be processed.
Applications are processed weekly. All applications submitted by Friday of each week will be available during lunch on Tuesday of the following week
If you are enrolled in Driver's Education, please read and sign this letter.
