• What is Pre-AP?

    Bearden High School is among the first to join the new College Board Pre-AP Program.  The new program offers instructional resources and classroom-based assessments to improve college and career readiness for all students. 


    Who is considered a Pre-AP students?

    For the 2019-20 School year, 9th grade students enrolled in Honors English 1, English 1 CP, Honors Algebra 1, Honors Biology, World History and Gepgraphy, and Visual Art 1 (9th grade only- Goepfert Teacher). 


    Why Pre-AP?

    The goals of the Program are to significantly increase the number of students who are able to access and complete college-level work before leaving high school and to improve the college and career readiness of all students. All students deserve a curriculum that will prepare them to succeed in college level coursework, even if college is the first time they take a college level course. In addition, students need time and space to practive the skills necessary to succeed in their careers. 


    Does my students in Pre-AP courses take an Exam?

    Yes, at no cost to you. BHS will sign up your student for this exam. Testing Dates are Fall Oct. 16, 2019 and TBA for the Spring 2020. This score reports provided after the exams will include a wealth of information pertinent to your student. 


    Does my Pre-AP Student need to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT?

    No, your Pre-AP student does not need to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT.


    Was information sent home?

    If your student is in a Pre-AP designated course, a letter was sent home. The letter is provided below.
