Welcome

  • From the Principal . . .

Welcome to Halls Middle School!  I am honored to serve my fourth year as the Principal of Halls Middle School.  I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful community and school.  Our desire is to provide your student with an enriching and engaging middle school experience that helps them grow not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.  We want to provide rigorous and engaging instruction in the classroom as well as multiple opportunities for involvement in clubs and activities before and after the school day.  We want each and every student to leave our building prepared for high school and the challenges beyond.

Our mission: "Serving others--striving for greatness" will take the effort of all administrators, faculty, students, and parents.  Working together we can help ensure all students at Halls Middle experience greatness.

You can help your child be successful in school by:

    • Holding him/her accountable for learning, behavior, and school involvement
    • Becoming involved at Halls Middle School
    • Supporting the teachers
    • Celebrating your student(s) success
    • Communicating positively with your student and his/her teacher(s)

  • Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held November 13-22 in the Halls Middle School Library.  Students will attend with their ELA class on their assigned date from 11/13 - 11/22.  Students will be given a ticket to return before school, the morning only, following their class visit to purchase any items they wish to buy.  Students may shop with cash, checks, or eWallet.  We ask that students NOT bring large bags of change to shop with.

Family Shopping Nights will be held during Parent U on Tuesday, November 19 from 5:00-7:30PM and also during Multicultural Night on Friday, November 22 from 5:30-7:30PM.  This will enable each student the opportunity to shop the fair four times.  Cash, checks, debit/credit cards, and eWallet are accepted at the Family Nights.  We are looking forward to seeing students, parents, grandparents, and siblings for family night at the fair!

  • Student Password Resets

We are in the process of resetting all student active directory passwords.  The new format is uppercase first initial, uppercase last initial, lowercase kcs, followed by the month and day of your child's birthday.  If your student's name was John Smith and their birthday was January 1st, then your student's password would be JSkcs0101.  This password change will affect school computer logons, PLE laptop logons, and Aspen/Canvas access for students.  Family portal and parent observer accounts are not impacted by this change. If you are experiencing difficulty with student logins please email andrew.bennett@knoxschools.org with the subject line "password reset" and the student name and ID# in the message body.  Please be patient as we work through resetting all of these passwords for our students!

We cannot reset family portal accounts! Parents must contact the Knox County Helpdesk at (865) 594-1830 or helpdesk@knoxschools.org.

  • Morning Dropoff Procedures

Parents who choose to drop off their child in the mornings have two options: 1) Drop off your child in the Beaver Dam church back parking lot and have them use the crosswalk, or 2) Enter the morning dropoff loop on the Halls campus.  DO NOT endanger your child or the safety of other children by dropping off your child in the teacher parking lot, the turnaround in front of the school, the middle of the road, or by driving around the traffic cones and sawhorses!  Please follow the car line and the directions of the staff member directing traffic, and drop off your child at the portico area ONLY. Numbered parking spots are individually assigned for faculty and staff parking ONLY! Parents and visitors should use the designated visitor or unmarked parking spots.
