Welcome to the Fulton Comic and Manga Club page! The Comic Book club was chartered in the fall of 2010 after circulation of manga and graphic novels continued to grow. Many students enjoyed the art form, but they were unaware of each other. Over the past four years, the club has grown from a handful of students discussing comic books to as many as 25 members in attendance who publish the Fulton Comic and Mangazine, author a podcast, attend comic book conventions and so much more.You will need to have a parental signed form on file before you can attend any club or organization for KCS Schools. Please see Ms. Campbell or Mr. Leonard to get the paperwork.The club meets on Fridays from 3:45 - 4:45, Room 200 (Ms Campbell's classroom).The sponsors of the club are Sandra Campbell (Digital Design) and Keith Leonard (English Language Arts).There are no club dues to participate in Comic and Manga Club.Mission StatementThe Fulton Comic and Manga Club invites students to become a member of the community for those who enjoy sequential art of all kinds. Students are encouraged to not only read and discuss, but to create stories for publication in a real-world comic magazine. Once created, students will represent themselves, the club and Fulton High School in the context of events that celebrate Western and Eastern comic art, such as conventions, public speaking events and to guests who speak at the club.

Parents and Students;
There is an important change in the Tennessee Code Annotated law that directly impacts the operation of clubs and organizations within schools. This new law, effective July 1, 2023, pertains to the membership and participation of minor students in such extracurricular activities.
The specific amendment as it affects Comic Book Club is as follows:
SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-1031(b), is amended by deleting the subsection and substituting:
(b)(1) A school shall not allow a minor student to become a member of a club or organization, or allow a minor student to participate in any activity of a club or organization unless the student's parent or legal guardian first provides consent to the student's membership or participation in a dated, written consent.
(2) As used in this subsection (b), "minor student" means a student who is not eighteen (18) years of age or older.
From July 1, 2023, onwards, all clubs and organizations operating within Tennessee schools must adhere to this new requirement. A minor student, defined as a student under the age of eighteen (18), cannot join or take part in any club or organization without documented consent from their parent or legal guardian.
Comic Book Club will comply with the TCA, Section 49-6-103 (b).Any student wishing to be a part of the club/organization must have a signed parental consent form on file.

Our 13th Year!
Posted by SANDRA CAMPBELL on 2/2/2022 8:00:00 AMCelebration!
This year we are celebrating Year 13.
This is a big deal. Continuing to grow an active after-school program takes dedication from the sponsors, and participation from the students. We have strived to create a safe space where students can work on their stories, create and develop their characters, and share a love of reading comics and graphic novels.
This year we plan to have issues #5 and #6 ready and published. Our plans are to attend FanBoy in August with all six issues in tow. Students will be there in the booth to discuss their process and work.

Ten Years and Counting
Posted by SANDRA CAMPBELL on 9/1/2020 8:00:00 AMLast Fall was the celebration of our 10th Year. Students were excited that they belong to a club that has been around for a while. This means they get to take advantage of all the good things we have learned through the years.
We were able to put some polish on our next issue, #5. We had plans to have it published in the Spring ready for the summer local comic conventions, but that was thwarted by Covid-19 and lock-down.
We are looking forward to introducing a new way of holding meetings, guests, and more this year. Stay tuned to this blog and for our members, the Fulton Comics Course on Canvas. Cool things are coming.
