Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a program that we use to help ensure that our students are college-ready by the time the reach their junior in high school. The majority of our students take an AVID elective course in both 9th and 10th grades. AVID explains the AVID elective course as a class where, "for one period a day, students receive the additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in their school’s most rigorous courses" (https://www.avid.org/what-avid-is).
