Ms. Joann Bost

Principal

Ms. Bost is serving her second year as Principal at Whittle Springs Middle School, and beginning her 20th year in education. Ms. Bost’s tenure includes teaching Math at Whittle Springs Middle School from 1999- 2008. She served as a Classroom Management Consultant for Project GRAD Knoxville in 2008-2009. From 2009-2011, she served as a Math Coach at Carter Middle School. Ms. Bost was a Master Teacher at South Doyle Middle School from 2011-2014. In 2014, she moved into administration as an assistant principal at Carter Middle School.

Ms. Bost earned her Bachelor’s degree from Carson Newman College and attended Lincoln Memorial University for her Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision.

It is such an honor for Ms. Bost to serve as Principal of Whittle Springs Middle School. As a middle school student, Ms. Bost attended Whittle Springs Middle school and is a proud high school graduate of Fulton High School. It is truly a blessing for her to serve the community that raised her.

Mrs. Leontyne Stone

Curriculum Assistant Principal

Leontyne Stone is the Curriculum Assistant Principal at Whittle Springs Middle School.  This is Ms. Stone's 10th year as an Assistant Principal at WSMS.  She joined Knox County Schools in 2003 as a Social Studies Teacher.  During her tenure (2003 - 2009) at Vine Middle School, she taught Social Studies, Math Intervention, AVID, and 6th - 8th Grade Math. She was also the Project GRAD Math Coach at Vine from 2003 - 2009.

Assistant Principal - 6th Grade

Mr. Owen has been with Knox County Schools since 1997.  During that time he has served as an ELA teacher at both Cedar Bluff Middle School and Karns Middle School.  In 2007, he was assigned to Powell Middle School as an assistant principal and has since served as an assistant at Northwest Middle School and currently at Whittle Springs Middle School.

Mr. Doug Wheeling

Assistant Principal - 7th Grade

Mr. Wheeling is excited to begin his second year at Whittle Springs Middle School serving as Assistant Principal. He began his teaching career at Gibbs High School as Director of Bands.  He taught two years in Sevier County Schools and then returned to Knox County serving as Director of Bands at Karns High School.  After thirteen years at Karns, he entered administration serving as Administrative Assistant at South Doyle Middle School.  Last year he was named Assistant Principal at Whittle Springs Middle School. 

Mr. Wheeling's hobbies include camping, riding his motorcycle and traveling.  He attended The University of Tennessee studying Music Education and was a teaching assistant with the Pride of the Southland Band.  While a student at UT, he was fortunate to be named to two Collegiate All-American Marching Bands. He received a Master of Education in Administration & Supervision degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

He has said that we have wonderful students and tremendous teachers at Whittle Springs, and it is his honor to be a part of the Whittle Springs family. #WarriorPride

Ms. Rebecca Reeves

Ms. Rebecca Reeves

Assistant Principal - 8th Grade

Mrs. Reeves is beginning her first year as an administrator at Whittle Springs and will be serving as the 8th grade Assistant Principal. She is beginning her 22nd year in education.

Mrs. Reeves attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she received her Bachelor of Music degree. After completing her degree, she started her teaching career in 1998 at Whittle Springs Middle School as the band director. After leaving Whittle Springs, she taught for several years at Holston Middle School, Gresham Middle School, and Gibbs High School. While at these schools, her schedule included Marching Band, Concert Band, General Music, History of Rock, and Student Leadership, as well as planning and leading professional development for the staff of Gibbs High School.

In 2012, Mrs. Reeves was hired into both a Lead Teacher position where she evaluated teachers under the TEAM model, and as a Professional Development Specialist where she helped to train teachers throughout Knox County on the TEAM teaching rubric. In 2016, Mrs. Reeves graduated from Carson-Newman University with her Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree.

Mrs. Reeves continues to play flute professionally in addition to going to the beach and enjoying the sun and sand whenever she can.
