Youth in Government members gain experience in moral and political leadership by developing public policy. Students attend the Tennessee YMCA Youth in Government annual conference, which offers a hands-on experience with state government. Each year, over 2500 students converge on the State Capitol, taking the places of real government officials. Students can serve as senators or representatives, as justices and lawyers, as department commissioners and lobbyists, or even as press corps members.
