The first two weeks of school will be a staggered schedule for Kindergarten students. Students will attend a half-day each week (with dismissal at 12:00 noon) beginning on August 11 and will begin the full-day schedule on Monday, August 24, 2020. You will receive a letter the first week in August regarding your child's staggered day schedule.
Kindergarten Enrollment Age Requirements
Children should be five by August 15 to enter school for the upcoming school year.
Items you will need for your child to be enrolled in Kindergarten:
- Proof of Residence (some form of utility bill with your name on it)
- Birth Certificate
- Health Record—Shots and Physical (if you do not have these yet, you may still turn the completed packet back in. But you MUST have them before your child can start school the first day in August)
- Copy of Drivers License for Parent or Legal Guardian
Since we are not having a Kindergarten Round up, we have made packets that you may come by and pick up or you can click the link below and find the forms you will need. Once you have completed all the information in the packet and included the items listed above, return the packet to school. There will be a drop box located outside at the front of the school near the office doors for you to put your completed packets in; or you may email them to Mary at email@example.com; or you may fax them to Mary’s attention at 865-688-0712.
If you have any questions about Health Records, please contact our nurse, Sonya Smith. You may email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have questions about Proof of Residence, or any other questions regarding enrollment, please contact Mary Dillingham at email@example.com.
If you are not sure where your child is zoned for Kindergarten, you may go to the Knox County Schools website (knoxschools.org). At the top of the home page is a dropdown menu for Families, go to School Zone Search and put in your street address and it will show you what school you are zoned for.
We look forward to having your child at Gibbs Elementary and want them to have a wonderful Kindergarten experience.
