Good Afternoon Carter Middle School Families,

This is Mr. Watson, Principal of Carter Middle School, and I hope you are enjoying our first Fall weekend.

Our school has sold 867 school coupon books up to this point. Our school goal for 2018 is to sell 1,300 coupon books.   You have until Wednesday to reach the goal of 1,300 and make sure I have to wear a cheerleader uniform and cheer in the November 1st home opener against Gresham.   If you want to see that happen, then you need to sell 433 school coupon books this week.  We will continue to have daily drawings for students that have turned in money for Coupon Books.  At the end of the sale the homeroom in each grade level that sells the most coupon books will get a Pizza Party.  To sweeten the pot if you bring in a new sell this week, then you will qualify to go to a Candy Grab this Friday.   I want to see us reach our goal so bad, that I am willing to put my hair on the line.  If you miraculously sell 433 books by Wednesday and reach the goal of 1,300, then I will shave my hair to a Mohawk Friday afternoon for the Fulton game this Friday night!  So, if we reach our goal of 1,300 then I will shave my hair into a Mohawk this Friday and also wear a cheerleading uniform for the home opener against Gresham on November 1st.  The challenge is on you to make it happen!

Try-outs for both basketball teams will be this week starting tomorrow.  Students wishing to try-out for basketball must have a current sports physical turned in before they can try-out.

There will be a YOKE meeting this Tuesday, September 25th at 7 pm in the Carter Middle School Cafeteria.

Beta Club will meet this Wednesday, September 26th at 3:30 pm.

Seventh and Eighth grade students need to return their permission slips for their respective field trips to Zoo Knoxville that are coming up in the next month.  If your student has misplaced their form, then you can access permission slips on the school website on the right-hand side under CMS Forms.

Eighth grade parents there will be a meeting about the 8th Grade Trip to New York and Washington D.C. on Monday, October 1st at 6pm.  A parent or guardian must attend this meeting if you are interested in your student going on the trip to New York and Washington D.C.

The Knox County Health Department will be coming to Carter Middle School on November 1st to provide free flu vaccinations for students. This year, FluMist, the nasal spray vaccine, will be offered once again.  The FluMist manufacturer has made changes to the vaccine and it has been approved for use this coming flu season.  For further details regarding this decision, you can visit the Knox County Health Department website.

To have your student vaccinated, parents must fill out and sign the flu consent form that has been sent home with your student.  Forms can also be found on at the Knox County Health Department website and on the Carter Middle School website.  Please fill out the form completely and return it to the school before the clinic date of November 1st.

I hope you have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued support of Carter Middle School.   Go Hornets!

    Mr. Watson
