    Good Afternoon Hornet Families,

This is Mr. Watson, Principal of Carter Middle School, and I hope you are having a great weekend.   The start of school has been terrific!  The kids have been phenomenal this past week and I expect that to continue.   Students seem to be adjusting well to our new schedule this year that has seven periods.  I met with each grade level last Thursday and shared my expectations of them and went over the school expectations for the coming school year.   Parents your child should have brought home a green student handbook last week in which you need to review with your student.  We still have a few students that are not in dress code.  Please review the Knox County Middle School dress code that is in the green handbook with your student.  Remember shorts, skirts, or dresses need to be mid-thigh or longer.  If students wear tight pants, then they need to wear a shirt that appropriately covers them.  Shirts must have sleeves, their shoulders should be covered completely, no cleavage should be showing, and no midriff should be showing.  Once again, just review the green student handbook with your student and also make sure to sign and return all the forms that were sent home last week.

The picture forms that were sent home last week from Lifetouch had the wrong date on them.  Picture Day for Carter Middle School is on Monday, August 20th not August 15th

This Friday, August 17th we will have our Back to School Dance.  The dance will be from 3:45 to 5:15 pm.   We will have the dance in the Old Gym.   The cost for the dance will be $5.00 at the door.  Students will be getting a permission form for the dance this week and must have the completed permission form and money in order to stay for the dance.  Make sure to send extra money with your student so they can purchase concessions at the dance.   Parents you will pick your student up after the dance by pulling up on the bus ramp.  You will then circle around by the high school in order to keep a good and safe traffic flow.

I hope you have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued support of Carter Middle School.   Go Hornets!

    Mr. Watson
