    Good Afternoon Carter Middle Families,

This is Mr. Watson, Principal of Carter Middle School, and I hope you are staying dry on this rainy day.  It is a perfect day to read a great book!

Our school has sold about 500 school coupon books up to this point. Our school goal for 2018 is to sell 1,300 coupon books. Every student that brings in two new school coupon sales this week we get to go to the Candy Grab Dash this Friday.  We will cover the gym floor in candy and give those students that make two new sales this week a plastic bag, line them up around the gym, and then turn them loose to grab as much candy as they can.  We will continue have daily drawings for students that have turned in money for Coupon Books.  The homeroom in each grade level that sells the most coupon books will get a Pizza Party.   If we reach our school goal of selling 1,300 coupon books, then I will put on a cheerleading uniform and cheer at the first home basketball game against Gresham on November 1st.   Bring in tow new school coupon sales this week to get to go to the Candy Grab Dash this Friday.

A big Thank You to everyone who came to the Book Fair! It ended with nearly $5000 in sales—the best Book Fair ever!  That means the library will be able to put more than $2500-worth of books on shelves and, more importantly, in students’ hands and in classrooms!  The Online book fair is still available!  Items purchased online ship for FREE to the school and every sale benefits CMS.

This is the last week of open gyms.  The girl’s open gym is this Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:00.  Boy’s open gym time is divided into to two days.  Open gym for 6th grade boys is Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 and open gym for 7th and 8th grade boys is Friday from 3:30 to 5:00.   All students staying for open gym must have a signed permission form from their parent or guardian in order to stay.

Try-outs for both basketball teams will be the week of September 24th.  Students wishing to try-out for basketball must have a current sports physical turned in before they can try-out.  If a student does not have a current sports physical they will not be allowed to try-out.

The first YOKE meeting with be this Tuesday, September 17th at 7 pm in the Carter Middle School Cafeteria.

I hope you have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued support of Carter Middle School.   Go Hornets!

    Mr. Watson
