What is Mu Alpha Theta? A National High School Mathematics Honor Society.

What Does Mu Alpha Theta Do? At Karns High School, Mu Alpha Theta is a service club that offers tutoring services to their fellow students. The club meets once a month to discuss math and practice for math competitions.  We are also involved in various fundraising activities (I.E. Goul at the School)to help with technological needs of the Karns High School Mathematics Department. Our members offer free tutoring services as part of their membership. This service does not have to be in a math content. This year, I hope to take our students to a math competition to experience fun with math. This will be discussed in later meetings.

Who Can Join Mu Alpha Theta? Students who have successfully completed both Algebra I and Geometry with at least a B in their Math class may become members of Mu Alpha Theta. If you have not completed these courses, you may join as an associate of the club.

How Do Students Join?  Pick up an application outside of Room 121 and submit it to Mrs. Naes, along with the $25 fee for new members and $10 for returning members.  The fee covers a t-shirt and costs associated with an annual membership in the honor society.

When Do We Meet?  The 3rd Thursday of each month.

Other Questions? Feel free to stop by Room 121 or email me.
