Coach Cara Cahak

Cara Cahak will begin her second year as the Athletic Director, and her 6th season at HVMS as the Girl’s Middle School Basketball coach this upcoming school year.
Prior to Hardin Valley, Cahak was a part of the Lipscomb University Lady Bisons (2012-2014) as well as the University of Southern Mississippi Lady Eagles (2010-2012) women’s basketball staffs as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, where her duties included all aspects of recruiting, on-the-floor coaching, day-to-day operations and scouting. Cahak arrived at Southern Miss following a three-year stint at Jones Country Junior College as an assistant coach where she helped lead 2 of those teams to back-to-back state championship titles. Prior to arriving at Jones, Cahak was the head coach at Northeast Jones High School where she compiled a 53-18 record leading her team to the Overall 4A state Tournament semifinals in 2005-06 where they lost to the eventual state champs. Her 2006-07 team advanced to the second round of the south state championship. Prior to coaching at Northeast Jones, Cahak served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mississippi College. The Heidelberg, Mississippi, native, was a standout basketball player at Heidelberg Academy where she was an all-state performer. She played two seasons at Jones County Junior College before completing her career at Mississippi College.
Cahak received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2002, and she earned her Master's degree in Business Management in 2006. Cara is married to Ryan Cahak, and they have four daughtersand one son: Alee (19), Annah Cate (18), Charli (9), Rett (7), and Leo (8 months).
