Joe Hassell - 6th Grade Dean of Students

    Mr. Hassell graduated from Knox County Schools in 1994 from Halls High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University.  Currently, Mr. Hassell is enrolled at the Educational Administration program at Carson-Newman University.

     

    Mr. Hassell began his teaching career at Halls Middle School during the 2000-2001 school year. While at Halls Middle, he taught 7th grade science and served as the girls track coach and an assistant football coach at Halls High school.

     

    Mr. Hassell spent six year at Halls Middle and then was hired at Halls High School where he taught science.  During his time at Halls High, Mr. Hassell served as an assistant football coach and assistant track coach for the high school.  He also founded the school’s AP biology program and served on the school’s leadership team.

     

    After spending five years at Halls High School, Mr. Hassell transitioned to Central High to teach and take over their football program serving as the head football coach.  While at Central, Mr. Hassell taught both science and history. Mr. Hassell worked with the Great School Partnership to create the school’s student-athlete academic center. The goal of the center being to improve performance not only on the field but in the classroom.

     

    Mr. Hassell returned to middle school leaving Central to teach at Farragut Middle school during the 2014-2015 school year.  While at Farragut Middle, Mr. Hassell taught 8th grade science and piloted the school’s Personalized Learning Initiative. During his time at Farragut, Mr. Hassell also served as an assistant football coach at Farragut, Karns, Bearden, and Powell high schools and an assistant wrestling coach at Bearden High School.

     

    Mr. Hassell is married and and has four children.
