  • CTE Ride to Decide 2022

The construction trade is suffering daily from the lack of skilled workers. At the current attrition rate, when the next two generations of tradesmen/women retire in 40 years, there will be virtually no one to train. This fact not only affects trade as an industry, but ultimately the consumer and the future of our society.

Gordy Noe, President of Pioneer Heating and Air has participated in various work-based learning programs in the past but realized he needed to reach potential employees earlier and expose them to the field. In 2015, he came up with the idea to create a “Ride and Decide” program for all students in the area to try the trades and see if the fields were a fit for their futures. For the past six years, this program has seen success!

  • The State of Tennessee passed a law (Erin's Law) mandating all public schools to implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program. KCS has purchased Safer Smarter Teens curriculum for us to use in our classrooms. Our school counselors are the people who fulfills this mandate every year.  Below are a hotline and several websites related to protecting children from physical and sexual abuse. • On November 22 and 23, from 3-7 pm at the Hilton Downtown University of Tennessee Chattanooga will be in town!

This year, we have decided to make Moc Minute an appointment-based program. This means that students will sign up for a specific time slot (30 minutes) where their file will be processed. Additionally, to accommodate all the students who want to attend, Moc Minute will take place over multiple days in each location. This will allow us to process files quickly, efficiently, and safely for all attendees.

Students who attend will receive an application fee waiver and an admissions decision if they bring the required documents for admission (transcript & act scores for traditional applicants, transcript & academic recommendation for test optional) and one of our new accepted t-shirts after they have been admitted. This will be the last opportunity in 2021 to receive an application fee waiver. Please remember to remind your students that they MUST apply no later than a day before attending Moc Minute.
