Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) is an academic honor society focused on Spanish language excellence in secondary education and promotes continuity of interest in Spanish studies. Its motto is "¡Todos a una!" ("All Together for One Goal"). The group, which was established in 1953 in the United States is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Each chapter has its own unique name, which is associated with some aspect of the Spanish or Portuguese culture. This service-oriented honor society is open to those Spanish students who have studied Spanish III or higher, have an overall GPA of 3.5 or above, and have a Spanish GPA of 3.7 or above. The applications are distributed at the first NSHS meeting and qualified applicants are inducted in an evening ceremony in the fall semester. Dues are $20.
Meetings are bi-monthly on Wednesdays either at 7:45-8:30 or 3:45-4:30 in Sra. Maldonado's room.
