• General College Admissions Timeline

    Fall Semester

    • August 1 - Most college applications open; TN Promise applications opens
    • @ September 1 - transcripts will be ready to send
    • October 1 - FAFSA and CSS/Profile opens for 2022 - 2023 school year
    • November 1 - common deadline for Early Decision (ED) and Early Action EA), final deadline for TN Promise application (no exceptions)
    • mid-December - most colleges will let you know by now the result of Early Decision and Early Action application
    • @ January 1 -  common deadline for EDII and Regular Decision applications  

     

    Spring Semester

    • February 1 - final FAFSA deadline for TN Promise applicants (no exceptions), priority deadline for students attending college in the state of TN
    • @ mid-February - Financial aid offers will start appearing in your applicant portals. 
    • April 15 - all admissions decisions and financial and decisions should be made 
    • May 1 - traditional deadline to deposit at your chosen school. Let other schools know you are not coming so that they can offer your seat to someone on their waitlist.

    FHS College and Career Office Guidelines for College Choices

    At FHS we believe that a student’s college list should reflect aspirations and ensure choices. The process is innately stressful, but this can be mitigated with good research and planning. For this reason, we strongly encourage the following guidelines for our seniors who are applying to colleges;

    • Choose a list of no more than ten (10 - 12) colleges or universities to apply to. This ensures that your schools are well-researched for personal, academic, social, and financial fit.
    • Your list should include at least one BEAT school, one MEET school, and one TREAT school.
      • BEAT schools are those where the student’s average ACT and GPA are above the school’s admitted average range AND the admission rate is above 50%.
      • MEET schools are those where the student’s average ACT and GPA meet the school’s admitted average range AND the admission rate is between 20% - 50%.
      • TREAT schools are those where the student’s average ACT and GPA meet the school’s admitted average range AND the admission rate is below 20%.

    Every college where the admission rate is belo­­­w 20% is a TREAT school, regardless of your qualifications.

     The faculty and staff at FHS are committed to and take pride in supporting each student through their post-high school planning and application process regardless of their path. Whether you choose college, trade school, an apprenticeship program, or something else entirely, we are here to support you as you plan for your future.

     

    COLLEGE VISITS @ FHS

    College admissions representatives often come to Farragut to tell students more about opportunities available at their institutions. These are great opportunities to learn more about schools you may be considering. You are STRONGLY encouraged to attend these meetings!

    Register for college rep visits through your SCOIR account. If you don't have a SCOIR account, you can create one here. Use your school email address, not Google, to register.
