Welcome to our COVID-19 educational resources page. Here you will find many activities and materials compiled by Carter Elementary's staff to help students learn at home. You will also find the link to high quality resources provided by Knox County Schools. Please check this page often as new materials will be added regularly. Textbooks
This link will allow you to access your text books digitally through the Knox County Schools site.
Khan Academy & Khan Academy Kids
Did your child show you something at the student showcase that he or she is struggling with, or is there something in the KCS learn at home packet he/she needs a little help with? Khan Academy can help. Simply sign up for a free account using the "sign up" icon in the top right corner of the Khan Academy page. Then search for the skill(s) your child needs help with using the search tool in the top left corner. Khan Academy has tons of easy to follow and easy to understand videos that will teach your student how to master needed skills. Your student can also practice previously learned skills using Khan Academy Kids.
Kindergarten Phonemic Awareness
The following links contain phonological and phonemic awareness games provided by our Kindergarten team to assist students in learning skills that are an integral part of reading. None of these links require a password, but some of them do require flash, so they may not work on a phone/tablet.
3-5 Science and Social Studies
True Flix contains many great ebooks and videos related to science and social studies topics your child has been learning in class. If you are asked for a username and password, you may obtain it by emailing your child's teacher or Miss Cameron at sonya.cameron@knoxschools.org
Epic Live
By clicking on the Epic Live icon below you will find tons of activities to engage your student(s) and give you some relief during this chaotic time. This site brings the unlimited discovery of Epic digital learning to life. The Epic Live video series features top-notch experts in their fields, leading a collaborative, educational, and fun class for your student(s). Each 20-minute episode will meet children at their level and provide them with an opportunity to explore at home, without begging you for attention and materials.
Library Challenges
Miss Cameron has some fun challenges for you to do at home to help you learn. These challenges are completely optional, but Miss Cameron hopes you will participate and learn along with her. You will be doing super fun things like making airplanes, listening to books, doing acts of kindness, drawing and writing, and much much more. New challenges will be added frequently, so check back here often.
Quaver Music and Additional Music Resources
Quaver Music is a resource provided by Dr. Poteete to help students learn music skills at home. A direction sheet is also provided to help you access the materials after you have clicked on the Quaver icon. Dr. Poteete has also provided some additional music resources that you can access by clicking on the music notes icon.

ELL Resources
Lingt is a resource provided by Mrs. Berry. Mrs. Berry often uses this resource in her classroom. ELL students are familiar with how to use this page, and they can access it using a phone, tablet, or computer if they have one. Mrs. Berry can change activities weekly so students can check this link often to practice skills related to ELL.
Virtual Field Trips
We know being stuck at home is a bit of a bummer, but you can click on the links below to take some great virtual field trips. They are also educational, so you might even learn something new along the way.
Lunchtime Doodles with Mo
If you love Mo Willems and his many books including the "Elephant and Piggie" series or "The Pigeon" series, checkout Lunchtime Doodles with Mo. Mo Willems himself will take your questions, share his books, and teach you how to draw many of the characters from his popular books.
Virtual Read Alouds and e-books
Reading is one of the best things students can do to learn while they are at home. The icons below will take you to several e-books and virtual reading sites. Students in grades 3-5 have learned how to log in to Makin Via e-books in the library using their Google Drive user names and passwords (User ID: s student number @student.knoxschools.org (no spaces) . Example:s123456@student.knoxschools.org. Password: First & Last initial in CAPS (must be real first name), last 4 digits of student ID, kcs in lowercase letters. Example: SC3456kcs)
Many classroom teachers have Epic accounts for their students. Students who use Epic at school should be able to log in the same way at home. None of the other sites require a username or password.Scholastic Learn From HomeScholastic Learn From Home is a great resource with day by day projects to keep kids reading, thinking, and learning at home. Students can pick their grade level and be connected with lots of high quality activities to support learning and defeat boredome.AudibleAmazon's Audible company canceled the subscription of books and audio stories for children and students of all ages for as long as schools are closed. Kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories including titles in six different languages. These books will help students continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet by clicking on the icon below.For additional learning, feel free to browse through all of the other valuable resources compiled by the Carter Elementary Library. They can be found on the side bar to your left on this page.
You may also choose to learn at home by tuning in to PBS daily for quality lessons related to Tennessee state standards. The schedule for programming can be found below.
