West Valley Track • A Tradition of Excellence • Running with the Pack
-
The West Valley Track and Field team has a winning tradition. Between the Boys' and Girls' teams we have brought home several Knox County Championships. Our first individual State Champions are Kristina Weaver (2021) in the 800m Run, Drew Parrot (2021) in the 200m Sprint and Boston Ywagar (2021) in Shot Put. Drive Dedication and Determination!

Before considering trying out for track, please be aware of the following: Track Team members must be available Monday through Thursday for practices, from 3:45-5:00 from February to May 2025. Track meets will vary throughout the week. If you have a regularly scheduled weekly or biweekly activity or event outside of school that meets before 5:00, then track may not be for you. Due to the large number of students interested in participating in track, we have no choice but to have tryouts. Unfortunately, not all students trying out will make the team. We are only able to accommodate a certain number of athletes at each meet, as we are limited to event entries.
Pre-Try-out Conditioning Days (optional) – Feb. 4th, 6th, 11th, and 13th after school on the track from 3:45-5:00pm. Completed physical required. See link below for form.
Try-outs: will be the week of February 18th - 21st after school on the track from 3:45-5:30pm.
- Girls' Tryouts - Feb. 18 and 20
- Boys' Tryouts - Feb. 19 and 21
* It is important to be at both days of tryouts.
Note: For conditioning days, students will be released with 2nd load bus riders and report to the PE locker rooms to change if they need to and then head out to the track. For tryouts, students will be released with 1st load bus riders.
You must have a completed physical form turned in by the first day of try-outs (see link below for form). Since being on the track team requires off-campus travel and a level of independence at meets, a student's conduct is a factor in making the team.
