Excellence for Every Child

STAFF PROFILE OF THE WEEK

  • Bryan Brown

Bryan Brown is a familiar face in a new role at HVA this year. Hired for HVA’s opening year in 2008, Coach Brown taught social studies for 11 years before shifting into the role of athletic director. However, he is best known as HVA’s cross country and track coach, where he has compiled some incredible statistics:

    • 7 All-Americans
    • 7 state championship teams
    • 15 Coach of the Year awards
    • 26 KIL championships
    • 27 top-five state finishes
    • 29 individual state champions
    • 51 athletes who have competed in college
    • 104 All-State athletes

Coach Brown lives by the proverb “Hard work brings profit, while mere talk leads to poverty.” When he is not at HVA, he enjoys grilling and smoking on his Kamado Grill and watching his daughter play volleyball. His favorite thing about being athletic director is the “interaction with all student athletes.”

Before joining the HVA staff, Coach Brown taught and coached in Minnesota, Illinois, and North Carolina. Originally from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Mr. Brown holds a B.A. in history and political science from Jamestown College and an M.S. in athletic administration from Liberty University. He is in his 25th year as an educator.
