Bus Information

Waiting at the Bus Stop: Students should be standing at the bus stop 5-minutes before their scheduled "Stop Time" listed on the Bus Stop Locator.  Students should not wait in a vehicle.  Being visible to the bus driver as the bus approaches ensures student safety as the bus has blind spots where approaching students will not be seen.  

 

Behavior on the Bus:  Riding the bus is a privilege.  If a student is unable to follow the bus expectations, they will lose this privilege.

Student expectations on the bus:

Be Safe

  • Keep hands and feet to self
  • Remain seated until you arrive at your bus stop.

Be Respectful

  • Listen to the bus driver
  • Use kinds words and actions
  • Show self control through your actions and voice
  • Level 1 Voice

Be Responsible

  • Leave your area clean 
  • Follow bus rules 
  • No eating, drinking, chewing gum

 

Riding Home with a Friend: Due to the high number of students on the bus, only students zoned to ride a particular bus may ride the bus.  If a student is going home with a friend they must be car riders that day.

 

Getting Off at a Different Stop:  If your child needs to get off at a different stop than normal, they must have a written note from the parent/guardian that particular day stating the stop they are allowed to get off.  

 

Eating/Drinking on the Bus: According to KCS Board of Education policy, eating and drinking on the bus is prohibited.  This policy was established out of an abundance of caution with the intent to reduce the risk of choking or causing an allergic reaction.
