    ACT Tutoring is a club available to help students prepare for the ACT.  We will cover test-taking strategies, question types, and content that may bring up your ACT score.


    Advanced Placement Human Geography 

    (Meetings are during tutoring times on Wednesdays from  11: 00 AM - 12 Noon or 12:30 - 1:30)

    Explore how humans have understood, used, and changed the surface of Earth. You’ll use the tools and thinking processes of geographers to examine patterns of human population, migration, and land use.

     

    Skills You'll Learn

    • Connecting geographic concepts and processes to real-life scenarios

    • Understanding information shown in maps, tables, charts, graphs, infographics, images, and landscapes

    • Seeing patterns and trends in data and in visual sources such as maps and drawing conclusions from them

    • Understanding spatial relationships using geographic scales

     

    These sessions are scheduled for students signed up for AP Human Geography. The course officially begins in the Spring, but students are encouraged to get started with their readings and understanding.

    A club for anime lovers to get together and watch /discuss our favorite anime. We will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday every month.

    This club will meet during office hours instead of club time to provide extra support for our honors and AP students, including study skills, stress management, and test prep. Open to students all year regardless if the course is in the Spring or Fall. Niswonger Virtual KCS Students also welcome.

    Content Creation Club - Ms. Corkern

    Content Creation Club is for students who are interested in building their skills organizing, plotting, writing, filming, and overall creating content. Creating YouTube videos, making TikTok videos, Instagram posts, Pinterest media, writing—-these all take some form of planning and implementation methods. Students will work together and/or individually to discover various content for which there might be a need. They will plot out their ideas, identifying what they need to bring them to fruition and then creating said content.

    Students will also have the opportunity to create the yearbook for the Virtual School including developing photospreads.

    Join the cooking club! Explore, share, and learn culinary skills as well as different cuisines. We will discuss recipes, plan grocery lists, and cooking on a budget. Club members create videos of what they made. During our club meetings, members will share their videos and recipes. Please fill out the link below if interested in joining this year!!!


    Creative Writing Club

    Creative Writing Club provides students the opportunity to gather with peers to explore, discuss, read and produce writing. Members participate in writing activities and exercises, offer tips and information about the writing process, and share their work on a voluntary basis for constructive feedback.

    This club provides you with an opportunity to learn about the stock market, the bonds market, and other ways you can invest funds to make money. You get to learn how to evaluate a market in order to make strategic investments and maximize your return on investment. You’ll also get to network with investment bankers and other industry professionals who can tell you how to potentially make a fortune doing this as a career. Students can even compete with their peers using online simulation tools that mirror the stock market.

    National Honor Society (NHSTM), established in 1921, is an organization that recognizes student achievement and community engagement. As a high school chapter, the KCS Virtual High School NHS dedicates time to developing a deep understanding of the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. To be considered for membership in the NHS, students must qualify as candidates. Qualified students will receive an invitation to provide information to be used by the Faculty Council to support their candidacy for membership. Membership is granted only to those students selected by the Faculty Council on the condition of their having met the established standards for selection. Invitations will be sent via Canvas to eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

     Students will be deemed qualified and receive an invitation if the Scholarship Pillar criteria have been met: 

    ● The student is currently in 10th - 12th grade 

    ● The student has a minimum weighted GPA of 3.5 Candidates Will Demonstrate Leadership Through: A student Candidate Information Form Two VHS teacher recommendations 10 community service hours (5 each semester) Essay

    Old Fashioned Radio Play Club

    Meetings TBD by Club membership (We will schedule an initial meeting and then select a regular meeting time from there. I want you to be able to join more than 1 club if you choose!)

    This is a theater club for the fine inhabitants of Microsoft Teams. We'll choose (and maybe write), practice, and perform an Old Fashioned Radio Play. Parents and Guardians will be invited to attend our show!
