    The spring book fair will be held the week of March 7th - 11th. The book fair will be open late on Tuesday, March 8th, from 3:00-5:30pm. (Please note this is also a pancake supper night for grades PK, 1, 3 & 5.)

  • Dr. Seuss Week Celebration

    We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss Week March 7th - 11th. Each day is a Dr. Seuss book theme, and we encourage our students to get in to the Seussical spirit! A parent letter will be going home with the daily themes!

  • Welcome Back to School!

    We look forward to welcoming back our Hornets this week beginning on Monday, August 10th, for grades 1-5. Our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will begin their staggered days beginning on Tuesday, August 11th (please refer to letter mailed home for your child's specific dates).

  •  Keyboarding Practice for Success
    Keyboarding skills are becoming more and more essential in our technological world. Learning to type on the keyboard correctly is a valuable skill for students and has quite an impact on their performance when using the computer for a writing task. Please see our "For Families" tab for some free typing resources you can use to help your child develop these skills.

  •  Ticket to Read at Home!

    Ticket to Read is now available on iPad and any computer that is connected to the internet. Carter students love Ticket to ReadTicket to Read is a self-paced, student-centered online reading program for students in grades K–5 that provides extended practice to improve reading performance. The program is completely free to any Carter Elementary student. The Ticket to Read program was purchased through Carter Elementary's Title I funds for the 2014-2015 school year and will be available until July 31, 2015.


    Visit the app store on your iPad device and search for Ticket to Read. You can access the online version at Your child will need his or her personal student ID to access this free program. Every student uses their personal student ID as their password to access the site.  The username will be s followed by the student ID. If you have any issues accessing the site please let your child's teacher know.

    Have you misplaced your current school newsletter and need an extra copy? The Carter Elementary School Newsletter can now be accessed digitally online.
