Aspen Parent Portal

Aspen is a secure, web-based school information management system. Knox County School uses Aspen to maintain student educational records such as enrollment history, student directory information, attendance, student schedules and health data in accordance with state law. All parents are also provided an Aspen Family Portal account when a student enrolls in the division.

With Aspen Family Portal, parents can:

• View students' schedules, including a list of his/her teachers
• Monitor students' official grades
• Review attendance information
• Review emergency contact information

Canvas

Canvas is an easy-to-use, cloud-based learning management system that connects all the digital tools and resources teachers and students use daily.

With Canvas,

• Teachers can post all their class content in one place, including a calendar for due dates, links to class resources like videos, posted homework assignments (and a drop-box for turning it in), etc.
• Students can see all their assignments, due dates, and class materials in one place. They can turn in assignments and see teacher feedback.
• Parents can "observe" their student's progress and performance in each class.

Please note that the official KCS gradebook will continue to be located in Aspen. Grades in Canvas may not reflect the final grade for a course.

ParentSquare

ParentSquare is the official districtwide communication platform used by Knox County Schools and its schools to share information with families. Accounts are automatically generated for each parent/guardian using the primary email address and phone number given to your child’s school office.

Families can access ParentSquare on any device through the free mobile app for iOS or Android or the desktop version at parentsquare.com.

With ParentSquare, parents can:

• Receive school and district communications by email, text, phone call, or mobile app notification
• Send and receive two-way messages with school staff, including translation into your preferred language
• Choose to receive messages as they are sent or receive a daily digest at 6 p.m.
• Communicate in your preferred language
