Welcome Center

The Robert M. Thomas Welcome Center is dedicated to supporting families as they navigate Knox County Schools, particularly those who are new to the area or speak languages other than English. As part of the Student & Family Supports Department, the Welcome Center:
- assists with school enrollment,
- provides orientation on district policies and procedures,
- and offers language support to ensure effective communication between families and schools.
In addition to enrollment assistance, the center connects families with important community resources such as Adult ESL programs, citizenship classes, and health clinics.
Our team of Family Community Liaisons speaks multiple languages, including:
- Arabic
- French
- Kinyarwanda
- Kirundi
- Mayan languages (Akateco and Q'anjob'al)
- Spanish
- Swahili
For other language needs or specialized meetings, we coordinate services through district-approved providers.
If your family needs support, the Robert M. Thomas Welcome Center is here to help make your transition into Knox County Schools as smooth as possible.
