Family Supports
The Student and Family Support Center exists to empower families and enhance their overall experience as members of our educational community. It is a one-stop destination offering a range of services, including compassionate support for families navigating any challenges in an individual school or with the district overall and confidential conflict resolution through an ombudsman.
Ombudsman's Office
The Office of the Ombudsman serves as a navigator for families, employees, and the community to resolve issues or concerns through mediation and education. Our office hears and discusses the presenting concern, and after determining the need provides support in finding appropriate options and solutions.
Anyone with a concern is encouraged to contact the Ombudsman’s office for help resolving or clarifying a school or district issue. You can reach out by completing the online form, calling the office, or sending a letter or email.

Enrollment Office
Knox County Schools assigns students to schools based on the address of the family's primary residence. The school zone search tool can be used to help find your child’s zoned school.
Preschool options are available for children as young as 4-years-old, and students can enroll in Kindergarten if they turn 5-years-old on or before August 15 of the current school year.
School transfers may be requested if a family wishes for their student to attend a school different from their zoned school.

Welcome Center
Knox County Schools is proud to operate a Welcome Center where Family Community Liaisons assist families with no or limited English proficiency with the enrollment process, provide other important information about district policies, and make referrals to support services outside the school system.

Resource Library
The KCS Resource Library is a district-led initiative designed to provide families in the district with information and resources relevant to the social, emotional, and academic well-being of their students.
