A WORD FROM OUR SOCIAL WORKER REGARDING ATTENDANCE
Knox County Schools Attendance Policy states Acceptable (excusable) absences for students being absent from school include:
- 1.) Personal illness 2.) illness in the family temporarily requiring help from the child 3.) death in the immediate family 4.) recognized religious holidays regularly observed by persons of the student's faith 5.) verifiable family emergency 6.) subpoenaed to court with documentation 7.) for students with a parent or guardian who is deployed as member of the United States Armed Forces. Any absence not complying with the reasons above, will be considered unexcused. (Click here for KCS BOE Policy JB)
According to Knox County Schools Attendance Policy, a parent or guardian is allowed to write 10 days of parent notes per school year for the above reasons.
