Excellence for Every Child
Knox County Schools will kick off its 29th annual coupon book sales campaign at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, with a safari-themed event at Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy (3001 Brooks Ave).
Present at the event will be Superintendent Bob Thomas, Sarah Moore Greene staff and students, program sponsors and some lively “animals” from area partners.
This year’s book—featuring Pepsi as a title sponsor—has 363 coupons, including 36 new merchants, representing a total savings of more than $11,500, and still costs just $10. Of that amount, $8 goes back to the school for which the book was sold.
Coupon book revenue provides funding for school needs identified by parents, teachers and school administrators—examples are technology, playground equipment and new program materials. Last year, 151,767 books were sold by students raising more than $1.3 million.
The 2017 campaign will run through Wednesday, Sept. 27. Community members can buy books from Knox County Schools students, at all Knox County Schools or by calling the Business Partnerships office at (865) 594-1905.
