Knox County Schools ProjectU #UChooseKindess Day at Smokies Stadium


2,000 Knox County sixth graders will gather today to watch the Tennessee Smokies play the Jacksonville Suns. The game is the second in a five game series; the Smokies are already leading the series with a 2-1 win over Jacksonville yesterday.



ProjectU’s #UChooseKindness Day at Smokies Stadium. Project U is a program in Knox County Schools designed to encourage students to be kind, accept others and be responsible for their actions. ProjectU efforts against bullying are active in and having a strong impact on our middle schools. ProjectU students are leaders in their schools with the goal to improve their school environment by encouraging positive behaviors of kindness and discouraging the negative impact of bullying.



The park opens at 10 a.m. Members of the team will be available to sign autographs at 10:20 a.m. At 10:50 a.m., a brief anti-bullying educational program led by ProjectU student leaders will begin. At 11 a.m. lunch (provided by the Tennessee Smokies) will be served to all students. The first pitch will be thrown at 11:50 a.m. followed by the pledge and national anthem. The game officially starts at noon.
