Knox County Schools to Participate in International Walk to School Day

Nearly 20 Knox County elementary and middle schools will be celebrating the 20th International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
 
On this day, thousands of Knox county students, families and educators will take part in various events aimed at promoting the benefits of walking and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
 
Interim Superintendent Buzz Thomas will be at Lonsdale Elementary School at 7:25 a.m. as part of the school’s activities.
 
The event, a great way to promote family involvement in regular physical activity, is organized by the Knox County Health DepartmentSafe Routes to School and Knox County Schools Coordinated School Health and Health Services.
 
Knox County Schools that will be participating are: A.L. Lotts Elementary, Blue Grass Elementary, Bearden Elementary, Chilhowee Intermediate, East Knox County Elementary, Fountain City Elementary, Gap Creek Elementary, Halls Elementary, Lonsdale Elementary, New Hopewell Elementary, Pond Gap Elementary, Ridgedale Alternative, Sequoyah Elementary, South Knoxville Elementary, Spring Hill Elementary, Sunnyview Primary, West Haven Elementary, West Hills Elementary and West Valley Middle.
 
Two or more Board Members may be in attendance.
