Important Update on TNReady Assessments

Email notification to Parents and Staff from Dr. Jim McIntyre, Superintendent:
Due to significant delays in receiving testing materials, and based on authority granted by Tennessee Commissioner of Education Candace McQueen, the Knox County Schools will suspend and cancel all remaining state TNReady and TCAP assessments in grades 3-8, effective immediately.

High school state assessments will continue as scheduled, including those for middle school students taking high school credit courses.

While assessment can be a useful part of the teaching and learning cycle, the considerable problems associated with TNReady this spring were starting to become a distraction to our educational work with children.

I want to thank our parents, students, and members of our community for their patience throughout this challenging assessment season. Our principals and teachers should be commended for their flexibility and professionalism throughout this very frustrating process, and for always keeping their focus squarely on the needs of our students.
