Austin-East classroom Receives $30k Classroom Makeover

Mrs. Rhea Carmon, mathematics teacher at Austin-East Magnet High School, got a huge surprise when her classroom was awarded a $25,000 technology makeover, courtesy of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). Austin-East is the fifth Knox County school to receive this award. Additionally, the University of Tennessee Knoxville contributed an additional $5,000 to the technology effort. Mrs. Carmon will spend the remainder of the school year and summer consulting with ORAU regarding her technology “wish list,” with a reveal of the finished product ready for the beginning of the 2016-17 school year.
