Teacher Supply Depot Open Morning of Jan. 23

On Saturday, Jan. 23, teachers, teaching assistants and nurses of the Knox County Schools will have the opportunity to shop for free classroom supplies when the Knox County Schools Teacher Supply Depot opens for the third time in the 2015-2016 school year. Every teacher in attendance will receive a free box of supplies from Kroger.

The Teacher Supply Depot provides teachers and others within the Knox County Schools with new and used classroom materials at no charge. Since the depot is driven solely by donations, it is a unique way for local businesses and community members to partner with the school system to provide material support to teachers. All donated materials are used to enhance instruction and promote student achievement in the classroom.

In its 14 years of service, the Teacher Supply Depot has benefited more than 10,000 Knox County Schools’ professionals and has provided an estimated $2.6 million worth of materials made possible through the support of local businesses and community members.
Located at 709 N. Cedar Bluff Road in the former Cedar Bluff Intermediate School, the Teacher Supply Depot is a joint venture of the Knox County Education Association and the Knox County Schools.

Although donations are accepted year-round, the Teacher Supply Depot is only open on certain dates throughout each school year. Those planning to shop at the Teacher Supply Depot must bring a school ID or another form of identification to be admitted. Doors open at 7 a.m. and close at noon. To ensure the safety of everyone in attendance, we ask that visitors not start lining up at the Depot before 6 a.m. and that due to space limitations teachers not bring family and friends with them, they will not be permitted into the Depot.

One more Teacher Supply Depot shopping day will be held this year: Saturday, April 2, 2016.

Please note that two or more members of the Board of Education may be present.
