Mooreland Heights Celebrates!

Mooreland Heights Elementary School recently cut the ribbon on two very important projects.  First, the school celebrated its expansion project, which includes 7,500 square feet of new construction, six additional classrooms, office space, restrooms, additional parking and more.  Additionally, the school officially open the “Cole Alexander Cross Memorial Playground” built in honor of a Mooreland Heights Elementary student who passed away in January 2014 from cancer.  Cross’ best friend, Kenzie Self, wrote and presented a letter to Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett earlier in the year and asked that a special day be created for her friend.  Not only did Mayor Burchett present a proclamation declaring Nov. 2, 2015 “Cole Alexander Cross Day,” he also helped spearhead an effort to raise approximately $35,000 to construct a playground in Cross’ honor.
