Prestige Cleaners Supports Education

Educational initiatives envisioned by educators from five schools in the Knox County Schools were awarded with generous grants of $2,500 each from Prestige Cleaners/Prestige Tuxedo. The checks presentation recently took place at South-Doyle High School, where representatives from all five schools were present. The five schools and projects include:
  • Inskip Elementary School: Playground equipment that supports more structured physically active and developmentally appropriate play for students.
  • Karns High School: A set of TI-84+ graphing calculators to help students prepare for end-of-course mathematical exams and the ACT test.
  • Lonsdale Elementary School: Equipment to build a climbing wall that will enhance the physical activity of students and promote physical well being.
  • Shannondale Elementary School: Equipment that will allow students to participate in hands-on STEM-based activities creating, building and testing cars that use different types of energy.
  • South-Doyle High School: Equipment to remodel the kitchen in the Special Education classroom to accommodate the learning and physical disabilities of the students.
The grants are made through the company’s philanthropic program, Project Classroom. Prestige Cleaners established Project Classroom in 2007, and to date the company has donated approximately $135,000 to area schools.

“Project Classroom is a philanthropic effort that is very important to us at Prestige,” said Eddie Mannis, President of Prestige Cleaners/Prestige Tuxedo. “There is not a more critical issue in our community than the education of our young people, and it’s important to us that the dollars from this program can go directly into the classroom. Education is the backbone of our community, state and country, for we are training the workforce and the leaders of the future. How successful we are in the future depends on how well we educate, motivate and inspire the young people of today.”

Grant applications for the 2015-2016 school year will be distributed to public schools in the fall. For more information about Project Classroom grants, contact Prestige Cleaners/Prestige Tuxedo at 865-938-7701.
